  • Construction of new secure internal extension.
  • New mechanical and electrical services (spanning design, new mechanical extract/new fire dampers/new heating/new lighting/access control/fire alarm modifications).
  • New data infrastructure throughout and associated data hub.
  • New kitchenette and pumped waste system.
  • Installation of high secure metal doors.
  • All new finishes including internal decorations, new suspended ceilings and new floor coverings.

Project Overview and Key Challenges:
This project for the DVSA involved the complete refurbishment of an existing run-down office area together with an internal ground floor extension to increase the overall square footage. When completed this would provide a brand new and modern IT build room together with a much improved and modernised IT distribution hub for the UK.

The project was particularly challenging from a noise perspective since the customer held court hearings on the premises throughout the construction phase, thus requiring strong collaboration and understanding from the i4 Projects Ltd team to ensure the client incurred minimal disruption to ‘business as usual’ activities.

Furthermore, the site was constricted, providing minimal space for site setup and compound areas. Segregation between trades and end user staff was an essential aspect of controlling access and egress, together with tight control regarding site vehicular movements.
